Sherri Juenemann hiking the John Muir Trail

Hiking the John Muir Trail in California … Sherri Juenemann hiked the entire John Muir Trail in 2015.

The JMT traverses 210 miles, from 4000 to 14,500 feet in California's Sierra Nevada mountain range, starting in Yosemite Park, passing through Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, ending with a summit of the highest mountain in the lower 48!!

Why spend three weeks on such a trip?  Because …… it's one of the world's most beautiful through-hikes, camaraderie with amazing people, sense of accomplishment, simplifying life, and an EPIC adventure!

Sherri will review how to make this happen!   Permits, resources, training, solo or group, gear and food

Susan Knutson canoe tripping in the BWCA
How to plan an incredibly fun BWCA adventure:  Stay warm and dry, eat and drink, sleep well and keep clean … oh and look good!  Susan Knutson has led numerous trips for women (sisters, friends, cousins, nieces, aunts...) into the BWCA ... she will share:

-About the BWCA and why put it on your bucket list
-How to keep a BWCA adventure really, really low risk (don't be afraid!!)
-What gear you need and how to gather
-How to find your way around the lakes and portages and streams
-Answers to the questions no one wants to ask
She will share pictures and leave behind informational material, including sample routes for beginners and experts.

ALL FUN WOMEN ARE WELCOME!
To explain: this is the beginning of several randomly scheduled gatherings to share the many cool ideas women have to do cool stuff. WOMEN'S WILD ADVENTURES could be something you want to do—such as an activity right out your back door or, in another state. It could involve something as simple as arranging a snowshoe hike, an ethnic potluck dinner, camping outside by yourself, or an event you would like others to join. Please RSVP, if possible, so I know how much chocolate to set out. gearwest@gearwest.com
