City of Lakes Wax Recommendation

We have been busy testing the new fluor-free waxes this early winter, if you are looking for a recommendation for this weekend’s races, see below. We have tested waxes from Swix, Rex, Vauhti, Rode, and Start, among others, below are some recommendations that will make your skis fast in these fluor-free times. 

Minneapolis

Weather-

Friday - Partly sunny, with a high near 42. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 31. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. East northeast wind around 5 mph.

Recommendations-

Glide:

Swix I84 Glide Cleaner

Base – Rode Endurance, Swix Marathon Powder

Paraffin – Swix TSP10 Powder

Liquid – Swix HS8, Rode RL Med, Rex NF41*

Structure – Toko Structurite Yellow – both rollers tip to tail x2 – more pressure towards the back of the ski

*use Swix Roto Wool as a finishing step

Kick:

Rode Base Klister spray covered with one very thin layer of Rode Special Violet Klister, iron together and let cool completely.  Top with a 1/1 mix of Rode Multigrade Klister and Rex TK 2251.   Bump to TK-2251 if the snow heats up fast on race morning.

Glide:
