January 11-12, 2025 Wax Recommendations

We have been busy testing the new fluor free waxes this early winter, if you are looking for a recommendation for this weekend’s races, see below.  We have tested waxes from Swix, Rex, Vauhti, Rode, and Start, among others.  Below are some recommendations that will make your skis fast in these fluor-free times.

Seeley Hills Classic

Birkie Trailhead

1/11-12/2025

Weather-

Friday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 1. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday - Partly sunny, with a high near 16. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Saturday Night - A slight chance of snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Calm wind.

Sunday - A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 19. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph.

Recommendation Saturday -

Paraffin – Swix TSP5

Topcoat – Rex NF41, Swix TST5

Kick – Thin layer of base klister under a thin layer of Swix KX30 klister.  Covered with a layer of Rex N41 kickwax corked.  Klister layers need to be very thin and cold before applying kickwax.

Structure – LC0 or LC2 stonegrind. 

Recommendation Sunday –

Paraffin – Swix TSP5, Rode RX22

Topcoat – Rex NF41, Swix TST5

Structure – LZ2 or PL2+ stonegrind

Paraffin – Swix Marathon

Topcoat – Rode WC RXL Med, Rex NF41 Liquid, Swix TST7

Kick – Thin layer of base klister under a thin layer of Swix KX30 klister.  Covered with a layer of Rex N41 kickwax corked smooth. 

Structure – PL2+ or LC2 stonegrind with one pass of the Toko Structurite double roller Red.

Sunday - A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 20. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday - Partly sunny, with a high near 10. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph.
