Wax Recommendations - Sisu Ski Fest / Mesabi Invite

We have been busy testing the new fluor-free waxes this early winter, if you are looking for a recommendation for this weekend’s Pre-Loppet or the Gitchi Gammi Games, see below. We have tested waxes from Swix, Rex, Vauhti, Rode, and Start, among others, below are some recommendations that will make your skis fast in these fluor-free times. 

Sisu Ski Fest

Ironwood MI

Weather-

Friday - Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 9. Wind chill values between -15 and -25. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Friday Night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers after midnight. Patchy blowing snow after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 8 by 5am. Wind chill values between -10 and -15. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

Saturday- A 20 percent chance of snow showers before noon. Patchy blowing snow before 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 24. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

*no liquid is recommended due to the cold, dry snow forecasted. Ironing in two layers of paraffin is recommended using the Swix Roto Wool as a finishing step.

Weather-

Friday - Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near -1. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night - Snow, mainly after midnight. Low around -4. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday - A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
